Gossip Never Ends
“So, did you
hear what Joe did this weekend?” Sally said to Marvin, Bob, and Sue as they sat
down at lunch.
“No, what?”
Marvin replied.
“Couple of
people said that he was getting bong hits in the back of his van with his
friends…on school property.”
“…the hell?” Sue
asked open mouthed. “Joe Michelson? The Quarter Back for the school?”
“Yeah, there was
a tweet about it this morning. Joe doesn’t know about it yet though.”
“Why the hell
would he smoke marijuana with that kind of a rep at school? I mean seriously,
the guy wants to be student council’s president and wants to be a druggie on
the side?” Bob scoffed.
“I dunno, ask
him. He’s probably got his priorities listed out. One, act like a hot shot in
school, Two go home and be a mama’s boy, Three leave home in the middle of the
night and smoke marijuana.” Sally said sarcastically, and invited a round of
laughter from the group.
“I got an idea.
So, Tommy’s running for student council too right?” Sue said, “I really think
the school would be better off with Tommy as president. First off, he’s not as
stuck up. He actually works hard, unlike Joe, who just walks around flexing his
muscles and acting like a wiseass. Like, he’d represent us better. Joe would
just get more funds for his football team. I mean he’s already captain of that,
why does he want to be president?”
“I know right?”
Marvin replied, eyebrows raised. “The guy is a total douche. So what was your
idea?”
“I say we start
a hate page for Joe on Facebook.”
“Do you have any
idea how much trouble we would get into?” Sally asked.
“It’s off school
grounds, and it’s our own computers. They can’t touch us. There’s no law
against it. I’ll just open it up and why don’t you guys just join in. We can
take it down after its done.”
“I don’t know.”
Bob said, shrugging.
“Come on, guys.
It’s just for a week.”
“Oh what the
hell, I’ll do it.” Sally said, and the group slowly agreed, one by one. Just
then Sue’s cellphone rang.
“Oh, it’s my
mom. I’ve a piano lesson. See you guys. I’ll open it up tonight.” Sue said and
left the cafeteria.
The group waited
till she was out of earshot, and began to converse again,
“She is such a
bitch!” Marvin exclaimed.
“Who?” Sally
asked.
“Her, Sue.
Always wants to ruin some guy’s rep. No wonder she can’t get a single date to
the prom.” Marvin said.
“Yeah, she is a
bitch. Last year, she spread rumors about a guy who wanted to date her. Said
his dick was too small, and all that sort of shit. Kid quit school.”
“What?! Sue did
that?” Sally asked.
“Yeah, like I
said, she’s just…ugh. Can’t stand her. Always complaining about somebody and
just trying to mess up someone’s life.” Marvin complained.
“How ‘bout we
just don’t join that group and report it. The reporting system is anonymous,
and nobody will know it was us.” Bob suggested.
“Good, how will
we explain us not joining it?”
“We’ll just say
we forgot. Come on, it’s not like she’ll take it that seriously. Seriously, I’m
tired of that girl just going on and on and on about how she wants to bring
someone down. She’s such a two face.” Bob asserted.
“Sucks to have
her around sometimes. I say we report it.” Marvin said.
“Whatever, I’m
in. I don’t like gossiping. I mean, it’s just so pointless. What do you expect
to get by talking behind people’s backs?”
“Cheap
popularity.”
“Well if that’s
what she wants, she’s not getting it…not anytime soon. I’m all for reporting
her.”
Sally glanced at
her watch and exclaimed,
“Oh, sorry guys,
gotta go, dad’s probably waiting.”
“See you Sally.”
The two boys said smiling. After she was out of earshot, they began to talk
again.
“Sally should
get the biggest hypocrite award. She says that she doesn’t like gossiping, and
look what she’s been doing all this time. First it was Joe, then it was Sue.
Girl can’t keep her mouth shut about other people.” Bob said.
“True. It’s
about time someone let the cat out of the bag.” Marvin replied.
“Want to tell
Joe?” Bob suggested.
“About the hate
page?”
“Sure. But I’m
not saying anything.”
“Come on, she
won’t find out. It’ll just be between Joe and Sally.”
“Look man, I’m
all for it, it’s just that Joe scares the shit outta me sometimes. Not even
kidding.”
“Fine, I’ll tell
him. It’s not such a big deal. I’ll tell him we reported her.”
“No, don’t do
that. She’ll find it out if you do that. Just tell him what she told us.”
“Fine, fine.”
Bob looked at the clock across the room, and said, “dang, I’d better get home.
Brother’s going to be home in 20 minutes. See you dude.”
“See you Bob.”
Marvin said.
And as soon as
Bob was out of earshot, Marvin pulled out his cellphone and dialed Sue’s
number.
“Hey Sue, you
know that hate page you wanted to create for Joe? Could you make it a hate page
for Bob?”
